Vioxx – Missouri Consumer Class Action

The Claims

Plaintiffs filed a class action on behalf of MO consumers alleging that Merck violated the MO Merchandising Practices Act (MMPA) by concealing the safety risks of Vioxx, which caused an increased risk of heart attacks and strokes.

The Result

After 8 years of litigation, the court approved a settlement worth as much as $220,000,000.00. Up to 300,000 MO citizens qualified. It was the largest reported settlement in the State in 2014.
